Post-explosion, close to 1.25km, send a collector limpet to retrieve the material. Destroy them at range (greater than 3km) with fixed weapons, Mk I eyeball for targeting/guidance the generators will not be targetable further than 1km away, but if you are within 3km, the explosion will damage you. Scout around the edges of the maelstrom for a while, find the caustic generators that are on the edge of the cloud. You will probably have to make multiple trips into a maelstrom, and it will be easier if you are not sacrificing limpet capacity while hauling around the deadweight of 5 tissue samples. It is a little easier for you if you collect the materials first (10︎ Corrosive Mechanisms and 20︎ Caustic Shards), and the tissue samples (which are commodities, taking up cargo space) second.

(NOTE: Tissue samples are not good money, at all, I just try to make life easier for others since I have a capable ship, and enjoy the quasi-submarine simulator "stealth" gameplay in the maelstrom environment.) When I'm out doing caustic tissue farming I can typically come home with 90-95% hull intact. It's possible to gather the materials you need while taking very little caustic damage at the edges of the cloud. My advice is, don't dive too deeply into the maelstrom.
You don't have to go crazy on engineering, but you are going to need more than a little, and specifically focused on keeping your thermal signature low (below 20%). You will absolutely require the Class 4 Corrosion-Resistant Cargo Rack, so take a day or two to collect materials for that if you don't have it already. I can wander around and pluck about 10 tissue samples per sortie, and survive in there for hours, if I need to. It is heavily engineered, and I already had one caustic sink launcher from the community goal reward. This is the FAS that I use in maelstroms.
